PNC To Vet Aspirants Thursday And Friday

On Saturday, the People’s National Convention (PNC) formally ended nominations for candidates running for office in its forthcoming Congress. This opens the door for candidates to be vetted. The 17 candidates who have filed applications will be vetted by the opposition party on Thursday and Friday. The party’s Congress Committee said in a statement that the candidates have been split into two groups for the screening procedure. 

On Thursday between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, the first group will be vetted, and on Friday at the same time, the second group will be vetted. David Apasera and Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, two prominent candidates running for flagbearer, are among those who have filed for the elections.  Hajia Hajara Ali and Asaki Awingobit have filed their applications to be considered for the Chairmanship.

Awudu Ishak and Yakubu Fahrudeen are vying to become the party’s general secretary and handle its administrative responsibilities. Abass Nuhu and Daniel Nii Noi Osekine are also running for the position of National Organiser in an effort to improve the party’s grassroots organizing. Esther Osei and Christiana Fugah will compete for the role of Women’s Organiser.

In addition, Emmanuel Akazabre is running to be the party’s treasurer, while Mark Ewusi Arko and Alidu Mohammed Nasirdeen are vying for the role of youth organizer.  A number of candidates are running for deputy posts as well, including Narrita Mary Logah for deputy women’s organizer, Saeed Abdallah for assistant organizer, Prince K. Agyeman-Duah for assistant secretary, and Martin Anafo and Eugene Tamado Koffikan Bashiru for vice chairman.
