EC Announces Polling Stations for Upcoming Elections Amidst Tensions with NDC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has unveiled the list of polling stations for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. In a statement released on October 10, signed by Samuel Tetteh, the EC’s Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, it was confirmed that there will be 40,647 main polling stations, along with 328 special voting stations.

Additionally, the EC revealed the commencement of the printing of notices of poll and ballot papers in a communiqué issued on October 9.

The announcement has sparked significant opposition, especially from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). On October 10, the NDC met with other political parties to discuss concerns over the process. During the meeting, the NDC requested ballot statistics prior to the printing but was advised by the EC’s leadership to verify the figures directly with the printing houses handling the job.

On October 11, the EC issued a further clarification, stating that the printing of notices of poll for the presidential and parliamentary elections is set to begin on October 11, not the ballot papers themselves.
