The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders, along with customs agents and other concerned stakeholders, staged a protest in Tema, Greater Accra Region, to express their frustrations over what they deem excessive and exploitative port charges. The protesting groups argue that these fees are making business operations increasingly challenging.
After marching to various shipping lines to deliver their petition, the protesters also submitted copies to the Ministries of Transport and Trade and Industry. In media statements, several freight forwarders voiced their strong dissatisfaction with current port operations and Port Charges, noting that the high charges are driving importers to seek alternative options.
