According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the Producer Price Inflation (PPI) rate for July 2024 was 29.1%. According to this rate, the PPI grew by 29.1% from July 2023 to July 2024 (year over year). This is a 3.5 percentage point increase in producer inflation above the rate that was recorded in June 2024 (25.6%). In the month of July 2024, the PPI changed by 3.7 percent from June 2024.
From 32.3 percent in June 2024 to 37.9 percent in July 2024, the industry sector’s producer price inflation—a sector that does not include the construction sector—rose. In July 2024, the rate in the construction industry rose to 30.5 percent. The rate in the services sector rose from 12.1 percent in June 2024 to 12.6 percent in July of the same year. The industries with the highest rates of inflation in July 2024 were mining and quarrying (48.8%) and construction (30.5%), which were both higher than the national average of 29.1%. The industries with the lowest rates were water supply, sewerage, and waste management (2.6 percent).
