Eight boys are accused of raping a 16-year-old female general arts student (name withheld) at Mpraeso Senior High School in the Eastern area. Three of the eight boys, who are also pupils at the school, are still at large, while five of them have been captured and are being held at the Nkwatia Divisional Police Command.
James Affadu, the headmaster, verified the occurrence in an audio, but attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. He claims that the event happened on Sunday, October 6, but the school took longer to report it to the police because he wasn’t present.
However, he emphasized that the school’s disciplinary committee had expelled the eight male pupils and had sent the matter to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for additional inquiry. In an interview, the mother of a female form two student disclosed that her daughter called to complain of being sick and that she needed to come to school immediately.
On Monday, October 14, she arrived at the school only to hear her daughter recount her experience. The five male students were apprehended as a result of her prompt reporting of the incident to the Mpraeso Police station. Madam Owusua stated that her daughter is doing well after being admitted to the hospital, but she still wants GES to look into the matter and secure justice for her daughter.
