The funeral for the O’Reilly Senior High School student who was tragically killed by his schoolmate has been scheduled for October 18, 2024, according to the victim’s father, Enock Bortey Sackey. The decision was made in light of the ongoing legal proceedings at the La District Court.
During the recent hearing of The Republic vs. Godwin Mawuli, prosecutor Paul Osei Adjei revealed that the case’s duplicate docket has been sent to the Attorney-General’s office. He explained that the file will go through the Regional Office and then to the Headquarters before reaching the final stage of review.
In order to expedite the process, the court has instructed the lead investigator to personally follow up on the case, considering its high public interest. The presiding judge assured the victim’s father, Edward Bortey Sackey, that the docket preparation is already completed and has been submitted. The judge also advised the father to keep in regular contact with the police to ensure there are no delays.
Meanwhile, the accused, Godwin Mawuli, has been remanded into custody for another two weeks, with the case adjourned to October 21, 2024. The judge strongly recommended that Mawuli secure legal representation ahead of the next hearing.
