Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has tragically passed away at the age of 34.
The artist was found dead in his Atlanta home on Thursday. According to TMZ, both his family and a representative from the Fulton County morgue confirmed the news.
Rich Homie Quan’s family expressed their devastation to TMZ Hip Hop, saying they are heartbroken by the sudden loss of their loved one.
TMZ also reported on a 911 call made by the rapper’s girlfriend, who informed the dispatcher that he was unresponsive, not breathing, and without a pulse at the time of the call.
She also revealed he was unresponsive on a couch in their home when she called 911 and started foaming at the mouth when she tried to move him.
No cause of death has been reported yet. Dequantes Devontay Lamar, (RHQ) first burst onto the scene in 2013 with his instant classic hit, “Type of Way” and followed through with fan favorites in “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out.”
Rich Homie Quan later joined Young Thug on the Cash Money Records project, “Rich Gang” and was he was a frequent collaborator with his hometown homies, 2 Chainz and Jacquees.
He was nominated for many BET and BET Hip Hop Awards, including best new artist and people’s champ.
He also worked with some notable stars in the industry, like as 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, and Trinidad James.
2 Chainz posted a tribute on Instagram, saying: “Dam lil brother, we just spoke about shooting a video, special prayer for you and your family, and pray for any and everybody that’s dealing with something my condolences bru”.
Rapper Quavo also posted on Instagram, writing above an image of himself, Rich Homie Quan, and several other artists: “May God be with us, never saw this being a part of our journey”.
Engineer Alex Tumay, who worked Rich Homie Quan over the years, said the artist was “one of the nicest people I ever worked with and a true artist. Absolutely crushing news. RIP”.
