Ghanaian Afro-Roots musician Rocky Dawuni has secured his fourth Grammy nomination, this time in the Best Global Music Performance category for the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Dawuni’s song “Rise” earned him a place among notable global music contenders, including Angélique Kidjo & Soweto Gospel Choir with “Sunlight to My Soul,” Arooj Aftab’s “Raat Ki Rani,” Jacob Collier featuring Anoushka Shankar & Varijashree Venugopal on “A Rock Somewhere,” Masa Takumi with Ron Korb, Noshir Mody & Dale Edward Chung for “Kashira,” and Sheila E. with Gloria Estefan & Mimy Succar on “Bemba Colorá.”
This nomination adds to Dawuni’s Grammy legacy, following his 2022 nomination for Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1 in the Best Global Music Album category and a 2015 nod in the Best Reggae Album category for Branches of The Same Tree.
In the Best African Music Performance category, other African stars nominated include Asake & Wizkid for “MMS,” Burna Boy’s “Higher,” Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay with “Sensational,” Tems’ “Love Me JeJe,” and Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow.”
The Grammy Awards ceremony is set for February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
