Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Trial Set for May 2025 Amid Sex Trafficking and Racketeering Charges

American rapper and music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been denied bail once again following a ruling by a New York judge, who determined he will remain incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while awaiting his federal trial.

The trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025, where Combs will face charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. At a pretrial hearing on Thursday, October 10, Judge Arun Subramanian confirmed the trial date, which aligns with a request from Combs’ legal team for an April or May trial.

Combs, who has been detained since September 16 after his arrest following a federal indictment, pleaded not guilty to all charges. Despite multiple attempts by his attorneys to secure his release on bail, Judge Subramanian maintained the decision that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will remain behind bars at the Brooklyn detention center.

This marks the third time Combs’ legal team has sought bail. They initially argued that the first judge’s decision to deny bail was influenced by the “sensationalism” surrounding the case. In their previous attempts, they sought a $50 million bond, home detention, and visitor restrictions, but those requests were denied. Combs’ lawyers also contended that the conditions in the New York jail were “horrific” for their client, but this argument was also unsuccessful.

Thursday’s hearing was Combs’ first court appearance since his arrest, and his mother, Janice Combs, was present at the courthouse, along with his children.

A contentious issue raised during the hearing was the leak of a surveillance video showing Combs allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. The footage, which surfaced online in May, led Combs’ legal team to file a motion for its exclusion from the trial, arguing it could prejudice the jury. In response, prosecutors rejected the motion, accusing Combs’ team of trying to exclude critical evidence. They also denied that the government had any role in leaking the footage, claiming it was published by CNN independently.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is scheduled to appear in court again on December 18, 2024, ahead of his trial in May.
