Golden State Warriors top guard, Stephen Curry, has agreed to a $62.6 million, one-year contract deal, his agent Jeff Austin of Octagon told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday. With this deal, Stephen Curry, along with LeBron James and Kevin Durant, will remain with Golden State through the 2026–2027 NBA season, making him the third player to reach $500 million in career earnings.
In August 2021, Curry signed a four-year, $215.4 million contract; he has two years left on it. A player turning 38 in the offseason is not allowed to sign a contract of four years or longer with an NBA team; instead, they can only sign a one-year extension. This is because of the over-38 rule. Stephen Curry, 36, has made no secret of his intention to play one more season and retire with the Warriors, the only team he has ever played for.
Stephen Curry stated to Andscape in July that, given his current professional status, he can fulfil his lifelong dream of becoming a warrior. He did, however, also voice his wish to continue on a competitive squad, stating that he would rather struggle if he were in a scenario where he was below average and only wanted to stay.
