The Telecel Foundation, in partnership with SHE HUB Ghana, recently held a digital and financial literacy training program aimed at empowering women in the Ashanti Region, particularly those in the vocational and agribusiness sectors. This initiative, part of the 2024 Telecel Ashanti Month, provided training to 140 participants, including hairdressers and tailors, to equip them with essential skills in digital and financial management.
Nicolas Bourg, Chairman of Telecel Group, highlighted the brand’s commitment to supporting women, especially mothers, with valuable skills, given the increasing relevance of vocational and financial literacy. He stressed the importance of empowering women as key figures within their families in today’s digital age.
Bourg also assured participants that this program would not be a one-off but a recurring effort aimed at supporting women across the Ashanti region. “We will continue this initiative regularly to make a lasting impact,” he said.
Faustina Opoku, Manager of SHE HUB Ghana, shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “SHE HUB recognizes the importance of such programs, which is why partnering with Telecel Foundation was a clear choice.”
Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of Foundation and External Communication, also noted the significance of this training, saying, “Digital and financial literacy are essential skills that must be encouraged among women, and I believe this program will have a positive and lasting impact on all participants.”
