After scoring on the first day of the 2024–2025 English Premier League season, forward Antoine Semenyo of the Ghana Black Stars feels that his early goal will boost his confidence for the next round of matches. In a post-match interview with AFC Bournemouth journalists, following The Cherries’ 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, he made this statement. Semenyo participated in the game for the whole time.
In the 86th minute, Semenyo scored a goal by sweeping in the ball that had broken inside the penalty area following a left-side cross. Chris Wood’s goal in the 23rd minute had given Bournemouth a goal. Semenyo has stated how pleased he is with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola’s level of faith in his adaptability. The Ghanaian international made this statement in a post-match interview following his equaliser goal in Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest to start the 2024–2025 Premier League season.
Instead of starting from the wings as he usually does, Semenyo started as the centre forward; Evanilson, the new forward signing for Bournemouth, was left off of the match day roster after securing a deal from FC Porto. Semenyo made 33 appearances and scored eight Premier League goals in the 2023–2024 season.
