KTU and GI-KACE collaborate to improve training in digital skills.

The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Koforidua Technical University (KTU), forming a strategic partnership to deliver digital skills training in the Eastern Region. This initiative is part of GI-KACE’s efforts to advance digital literacy through the eSkills4Jobs program, which aligns with the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP) and the country’s overall digitalization strategy.

At the MoU signing ceremony, Ing. Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari, Director General of GI-KACE, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, noting that it will facilitate the introduction of essential digital skills to communities in the region. He emphasized that such training is crucial for empowering the youth and equipping them to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

KTU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Owusu, shared his optimism about the partnership. He expressed confidence that the eSkills4Jobs program would greatly benefit the youth and residents of the Eastern Region by providing practical skills that can foster local economic development and enhance employability in the digital sector.

During his visit to the ongoing ‘eSkills4Jobs’ training program at KTU, Dr. Yeboah-Afari encouraged the youth to take full advantage of the opportunity. He stressed the importance of developing digital skills to remain competitive in a rapidly changing technological landscape.

The MoU formalizes the commitment of GI-KACE and KTU to continue working together on digital capacity development across the region. This collaboration is expected to strengthen local training programs and expand the reach of digital education, making it accessible to more students and community members.

GI-KACE and KTU

GI-KACE, which has been at the forefront of ICT training in Ghana for over 20 years, already operates branches in the Bono-Sunyani, Upper West-Bolga, and Greater Accra regions. This new partnership marks a key milestone in its mission to bridge the digital divide and equip Ghanaians with critical ICT skills.

Through this collaboration, students and residents of the Eastern Region will gain access to valuable, hands-on training, contributing to the development of a digitally literate and empowered workforce.
