UDS postpones reopening date indefinitely over ongoing strike

The University for Development Studies (UDS) has announced the indefinite postponement of its reopening for the 2024/2025 academic year, initially scheduled for September 27, 2024. This decision stems from the ongoing strike by three major unions: the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU-TUC).

The industrial action has severely disrupted academic operations at UDS, prompting the delay. The unions are protesting delayed pension contributions, unpaid vehicle maintenance allowances, and the suspension of agreed-upon benefits.

UDS management has assured students and the public that updates will be provided once the strike is resolved, and normal academic services can resume.
