The University of Ghana has debunked a misleading message that falsely claimed students in the Department of Computer Science were required to purchase Apple devices to complete their studies.
In an official statement, the university firmly denied the accuracy of the circulated message, clarifying that no such requirement exists for any academic programme. The management encouraged students, parents, and guardians to disregard the misinformation, assuring that there is no mandatory need for Apple products.
The institution emphasized its commitment to offering a technology-driven, student-centred learning environment, ensuring that no student would be at a disadvantage due to the type of devices they use.
The confusion appears to have arisen from a fabricated message alleging that students in the department had faced performance issues when using non-Apple devices. According to the false claims, students using Android-based gadgets had struggled with software compatibility, affecting their academic results. The message further recommended that students purchase Apple-powered devices, such as iPhones and specific laptops, to avoid these supposed issues.
The University of Ghana, however, reassured all stakeholders that its academic procedures remain inclusive and transparent, guided by its core values.
Management urged the public to verify information from official university channels and avoid being misled by false reports.
