Vinicius Jr. will be absent from Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Liverpool after picking up a hamstring injury. The Brazilian forward played the full 90 minutes in Madrid’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Leganes on Sunday but was later ruled out of the trip to Anfield.
Real Madrid, currently 18th in the Champions League standings, are set to face Liverpool, who sit at the top of the group. A 19-man squad was announced for the trip, but Vinicius Jr. was notably missing after suffering a “biceps femoris injury in his left leg.”
Spanish outlet Marca reports that the winger could be out for around three weeks, although the club has not yet disclosed the full extent of the injury. Vinicius Jr. posted on X, reflecting on the situation: “Crazy calendar. Time to recover.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool may also be without defender Trent Alexander-Arnold for the match. The England international missed Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton due to a hamstring injury sustained prior to the international break.
