The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has advised candidates for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates to follow the examination’s rules and regulations and to be cautious of the actions of rogue website operators, whose main goal is to spread bogus questions. WAEC issued a warning after stating that it was concerned about large-scale plans by several institutions to participate in widespread cheating during the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates this year.
According to intelligence information gathered, candidates in some regions of the nation are being charged between Gh$200.00 and Gh¢500.00 for the assistance of invigilators, and supervisors at some centers are planning to assign teachers to invigilate subjects they teach. This is according to WAEC. The Council stated that in order to protect the integrity of the test, it is requesting the assistance of all parties involved, particularly supervisors and invigilators.
On Monday, August 19, 2024, WAEC will begin administering the theory and practical portions of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates, 2024. This is in accordance with how the Visual Art Project was managed between August 5, 2024, and August 16, 2024. The last day of the examination is Friday, September 20, 2024.
A total of 212,954 male and 247,657 female candidates from 1,003 schools have enrolled for the exam, totaling 460,611 candidates. This amount is 2.66% more than the 448,674 entry figure for 2023. There are 1,000 locations nationwide where the exam is being administered.
