Vehicle of Wanderlust Ghana burgled during 30,000 km road adventure

Thieves have broken into one of the vehicles belonging to Wanderlust Ghana, a group of philanthropists and tourists on a groundbreaking road trip from Accra to Dubai. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 26, in Krefeld, Germany, during day 13 of their ambitious journey.

Kwabena Peprah, CEO of Wanderlust Group, shared details of the break-in on Facebook, revealing that a window of the vehicle was smashed. The burglars stole several valuable items, including Peprah’s wallet and the passport of one team member, Kwame.

The group has since reported the incident to local authorities, with Mr. Peprah explaining, “I was getting dressed when Saka informed me that the receptionist called. The Tacoma has been broken into. Someone smashed the front window and took several items, including my wallet and possibly Kwame’s passport.”

He added, “We’ve been instructed not to touch the vehicle until the police arrive, so I’m currently at a German police station waiting to file a report and go through the necessary procedures.”

Peprah expressed concern that the theft could potentially end the trip for Kwame, given the challenges of replacing essential travel documents. “If Kwame’s passport was in the car, we can likely get a new one from the embassy in Berlin, but continuing the trip might be difficult for him since reissuing the required visas along our route won’t be easy,” he said.

The Wanderlust team’s ambitious 30,000-kilometre expedition spans three continents and 30 countries. Their route, which began on September 30, will take them from Accra to Paris, Dubai, and finally to Cape Town, lasting for three months. Despite this setback, the group remains committed to their historic journey.
