The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) wants to have 100% of water access across the nation by 2030. Stanley Martey, Chief Manager of Public Relations and Communications at GWL, talked about the steps being taken to guarantee a consistent supply of water. He said that the firm intends to grow its operations across the country to guarantee that water reaches every part of Ghana.
Mr. Martey emphasized in an interview that this approach is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. He added that GWL currently has an amazing 80% of the nation covered in water. According to his statement, their development plan is to achieve 100% access to water by 2030, which aligns with the SDG targets. Additionally, it aligns with the government’s vision and the company’s target and ambition.
According to him, sod was cut in 2020 in order to build several treatment plants, all of which are on track to achieve the 2030 targets. As of right now, coverage is approximately 80%, but with the development plan in place, they should be able to meet the 2030 target of 100%.
