In Lagos, a 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, has been arrested for allegedly killing his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, in a brutal domestic altercation. The tragic incident reportedly occurred at their home, where Olaniyi is accused of stabbing his 25-year-old wife multiple times during a heated argument.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, after the attack, Olaniyi is said to have locked Olajumoke’s body in the room and set it on fire in an attempt to conceal the crime. He then allegedly inflicted self-harm in the aftermath.
The police were alerted by neighbors who called for help, prompting officers to respond swiftly. When they arrived at the scene, they managed to extinguish the flames and discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body, bearing multiple stab wounds.
Olaniyi was found with injuries and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. After receiving medical care, he was discharged and immediately taken into police custody.
SP Hundeyin confirmed that an initial investigation revealed that the stabbing took place during a severe argument between the couple. Olajumoke’s body has been transferred to Ikorodu General Hospital for an autopsy, while further investigations are ongoing to gather more details surrounding the tragic event.
