Williams Brothers Shine in Athletic 4-1 Triumph Over Espanyol

Ghanaian striker Inaki Williams delivered a standout performance in Athletic Club’s commanding 4-1 win over Espanyol at San Mamés, scoring twice to lead his team to victory following their defeat to Girona in the previous match.

Williams, enjoying a strong season, was pivotal in Athletic’s dominant display. He struck twice in the first half, putting the game out of Espanyol’s reach early on. His first goal came in the 22nd minute, finishing a well-orchestrated play involving Álex Berenguer with a composed finish from close range. Just two minutes later, his brother, Nico Williams, sliced through the Espanyol defense, delivering a precise pass for Inaki to finish at the near post, securing a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Even without their top scorer, Oihan Sancet, Athletic Club maintained their sharpness, continuously threatening Espanyol’s defense. Berenguer added a fourth goal early in the second half, sealing an impressive performance for Los Leones. Espanyol’s Álvaro Tejero pulled one back late on, but it was merely a consolation in a one-sided affair.

Inaki Williams’ brace took his season tally to five goals, underlining his importance to Ernesto Valverde’s squad as Athletic Club climbed to fourth place in La Liga, boosting their push for European football.
