Yamal with a brace as Barca maintain perfect start

Barcelona started the season on a ruthless note to extend their lead at the top spot after a scintillating performance for a 4-1 victory at Girona with Lamine Yamal getting a brace.

The youngster, who plays for Spain opened the scoring courtesy of a superb goal in the 30th minute when he outmuscled David Lopez in a delicate one on one ball at the centre and then calmly beating the advancing Paulo Gazzaniga.

Yamal then made it seven fifteen minutes later by tapping in from close range after reacting first time after being fed by the ball from a Raphinha free-kick which was saved.

Girona, who were third in the league last season, believed that they had been accorded a penalty after Bryan’s Gil head reaching the arm of Inigo Martinez but the VAR overturned the decision.

Dani Olmo scored in his first three Barcelona league games since Cesc Fabregas in 2011 joined Barcelona to score the final goal from a tight angle in 47 th minute of the match making it 3-0.

More substitute action ended the match in style, when midfield general Pedri pounced on a precise through ball from Marc Casado to beat Gazzaniga and rub the victory into the Catalans, 17 minutes from time.

There was however a consolation for the home side 10 minutes from time with a first-timer from inside the box by Catalonia’s Cristhian Stuani d only 6 minutes later, the Manchester City’s ex-winger Ferran Torres, who was playing in the field for only 17 minutes, received a red card for a brutal foul against Yaser Asprilla.Barcelona climbed to five points above Real Madrid at the top of La Liga after a record extending fifth successive league win with this victory for Hansi Flick’s side.
