Several properties were reduced to ashes on Sunday morning at Accra Zongo Lane as they are worth millions of Ghana Cedis.
The fire which had began from one warehouse extended to the other warehouses and shops, which include those of local citizens and foreigners, because a fire tender leather was not available.
It is estimated that the fire began at around 11AM Sunday.
Thankfully, Fire Service Personnel came on the scene. Unfortunately, they could not do much as the fire extended to other warehouses right under their supervision.
All the fire tenders which were taken to the fire scene according to the report were weak to discharge water to its intended target.
A fire ladder is required but the only fire ladder is stationed in Tema and this exposes the fire personnel to no other option than being mere spectators.
Some people provided security to themselves and looted some of the properties. Some of the shop owners were left with no other option than to transfer their property as the fire continued burning.
Some of them include; musical instruments, ladies used clothes, electrical products, furniture, phones’ accessories, ladies’ handbags and children wears.
The cause of the fire is however yet to be determined.
