Ghana’s Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has outlined a strategic plan to prioritize road maintenance and infrastructure improvements across the country in 2025.
During a tour of agencies under his ministry on Monday, Mr. Agbodza stressed the urgency of upgrading Ghana’s road network to boost economic development and enhance the quality of life for citizens. He underscored the need for sustainable and cost-effective road projects, emphasizing that expert assessments would guide decisions on whether incomplete projects should continue or be temporarily halted until sufficient funding is available.
As the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Mr. Agbodza also reiterated his commitment to advocating for the removal of the cap on the Roads Fund. He argued that the current financial restrictions limit progress in the road sector and prevent essential projects from receiving adequate funding.
Vowing to work closely with ministry staff, contractors, and key stakeholders, the Minister assured that addressing the sector’s challenges remains a top priority.
“Our road infrastructure plays a vital role in Ghana’s development. We must ensure that every project provides value for money and truly serves the needs of our people,” he stated.
