Old Tafo MP Calls for Removal of NPRA CEO Over Alleged Financial Mismanagement

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has called for the immediate removal of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Chris Boadi-Mensah, citing what he describes as reckless financial management and serious governance breaches.

In a strongly worded statement, the lawmaker raised concerns about the handling of funds and alleged lapses in administrative oversight at the Authority. According to him, the situation undermines public trust and threatens the integrity of Ghana’s pension regulatory framework.

Mr. Assafuah stressed that institutions tasked with safeguarding the future of workers must be held to the highest standards of accountability and transparency. He argued that any indication of financial impropriety or weak governance within such a critical body must not be tolerated.

“The NPRA plays a vital role in protecting pension contributions and ensuring the stability of retirement systems. Any form of mismanagement at this level is unacceptable,” he noted, urging relevant authorities to act swiftly.

The call adds to growing public scrutiny surrounding the operations of the Authority, although the NPRA is yet to officially respond to the allegations.

As the situation develops, stakeholders within the pensions sector and the general public will be watching closely for further action and possible investigations into the claims.
