”Anthony Kwasi Sarpong says the ITAS rollout will transform tax administration in Ghana”
The Ghana Revenue Authority has intensified nationwide stakeholder engagement ahead of the rollout of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) aimed at transforming tax administration in Ghana.
Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong announced that the new digital platform would improve efficiency, transparency and compliance across the country’s tax system.
The initiative forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to modernise revenue collection and reduce bottlenecks that have frustrated taxpayers for years.
Tax experts believe the ITAS platform could significantly strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation and reduce leakages within the system.
Business owners, accountants and tax practitioners have been participating in sensitisation programmes designed to prepare them for the transition.
Officials say the digital system will simplify tax filing procedures and provide faster access to taxpayer information and services.
The GRA has assured stakeholders that extensive training and support mechanisms will be provided to ensure a smooth implementation process.
Many industry players have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major step towards building a more efficient and accountable tax environment.
The Authority believes the success of the programme will depend largely on collaboration between taxpayers and revenue administrators.
As Ghana pushes towards a fully digital tax regime, the ITAS rollout is being hailed as a landmark reform that could reshape the nation’s economic future.
