Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Condemns Poor Treatment of Ghanaian Visa Applicants
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has raised concerns over the poor treatment of Ghanaian visa applicants at various embassies, high commissions, and consulates.
In a formal communication to diplomatic missions, the Ministry stated: “It has come to our attention that some applicants are not treated appropriately when they visit for their appointments.”
The Ministry highlighted distressing conditions faced by Ghanaian visa applicants, including being left without proper waiting areas and exposed to harsh weather conditions.
Additionally, the Ministry criticized the long waiting periods for visa appointments, citing credible reports that applicants sometimes wait up to six months for an appointment.
Another pressing issue raised was the lack of emergency services and inefficient channels for resolving difficulties with online visa applications.
Calling for urgent reforms, the Ministry urged diplomatic missions to address these concerns, stating: “These issues are of deep concern to us, and it will be appreciated if steps are taken to improve services for applicants.”
