Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on Ghanaians to adopt the new digital health initiatives recently introduced in the country’s healthcare system.
During the inauguration of the e-pharmacy and telehealth services in Ejisu, located in the Ashanti Region, on Monday, November 11, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the revolutionary impact these digital services could have on healthcare access and delivery in Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia explained that the Telehealth initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery by allowing patients to connect with healthcare providers virtually. This platform will enable Ghanaians to access medical consultations, receive diagnoses, obtain prescriptions, and even consult specialists without leaving their communities, bringing critical health services closer to people in remote and underserved areas.
He emphasized that this service will not only save Ghanaians time and money by eliminating the need for travel but will also provide greater access to quality healthcare.
Dr. Bawumia further noted that the telehealth platform will facilitate access to international health expertise, giving Ghanaians opportunities to consult with healthcare professionals beyond the country’s borders.
Encouraging the public to embrace these digital health solutions, he stated, “The Telehealth initiative will improve remote healthcare access. With your health records available, consultations, diagnoses, prescriptions, and even specialist care can all be provided through this service.”
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the benefits, adding, “It will save time, money, and resources, and is not limited to Ghana, as one can also access international telehealth services.” He urged Ghanaians to make full use of these advancements to enhance their healthcare experience.
