Dr. Orleans Lindsay was inaugurated as the first chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University.

Dr. Orleans Lindsay, the Executive Chairman of JL Holdings Ghana, has been officially inaugurated as the first-ever Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU). The historic ceremony brought together prominent government officials, respected dignitaries, and members of the academic community.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Lindsay expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception and support from both the university and the Cape Coast community. He acknowledged several pressing needs at CCTU, including the construction of student hostels, lecture halls, and recreational facilities, expressing optimism that these challenges would be addressed through collaborative efforts with government, alumni, and various stakeholders.

Dr. Lindsay outlined his commitment to transforming CCTU to enhance its impact on students and the local community. He highlighted the role of CCTU under the Technical Universities Act of 2016, which emphasizes the advancement of technical and vocational education, innovation, and partnerships with industry. He assured attendees that his leadership would focus on these key objectives, which align with the Sustainable Development Goals in areas like quality education, economic growth, and innovation.

“As the first Chancellor of this noble institution, I pledge to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and to ensure that our programs remain accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians,” Dr. Lindsay affirmed.

Dr. Lindsay also revealed strategic plans to bring in highly qualified faculty, develop academic programs that meet market demands, and establish partnerships with global institutions. Leveraging his vast experience in business, he intends to connect CCTU with international institutions, positioning it as a leader in technological innovation and sustainable energy solutions.

A strong advocate for entrepreneurship, Dr. Lindsay expressed his commitment to equipping students with practical skills for self-reliance. He also voiced optimism that the university’s 40th Anniversary Students’ Hostel would soon be completed and pledged to collaborate with the government and private sector to meet other infrastructure needs.

He encouraged students to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development and appealed to alumni and stakeholders to support CCTU’s vision of becoming one of Africa’s premier technical universities.

Dr. Lindsay described his investiture as a defining moment for CCTU, foreseeing a “significant paradigm shift” that would place the university among the top technical institutions globally.
