FWSC pleads CLOGSAG to postpone scheduled strike.

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has called on the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider its planned strike scheduled for Thursday, November 7, 2024.

CLOGSAG announced the impending industrial action on November 4, citing frustration over the government’s delay in implementing a long-awaited salary structure. The association highlighted that despite an agreement in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed over 18 months ago, the promised salary adjustments remain unfulfilled, prompting members to take action.

In response, the FWSC has appealed to CLOGSAG to suspend the strike and return to negotiations, emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving their salary concerns.

“We wish to reaffirm the government’s willingness to work with CLOGSAG to reach lasting solutions without undermining the principles of the Single Spine Pay Policy,” the statement said.

The FWSC urged CLOGSAG to reconsider the strike and continue discussions to achieve a prompt and amicable resolution.
