Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has encouraged Ghanaians to participate actively in the upcoming December 7 general election. Acknowledging issues such as voter apathy, economic challenges, and dissatisfaction with governance that might dissuade some citizens from voting, Kufuor urged that these should not deter them from exercising their right.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he highlighted that while these concerns are understandable, choosing not to vote could lead to undesirable outcomes. “It is better to use your vote because, if you don’t, others will, and the painful reality is that those who do will choose leaders you might not want,” he explained.
He encouraged citizens to avoid sitting out the election due to past negative experiences or specific candidates’ personalities, warning that this could lead to regrets. Kufuor advised that Ghanaians vote thoughtfully, basing their choices on their real-life circumstances rather than emotions.
