Hundreds of supporters of the Movement for Change, led by former United Progressive Party presidential candidate Akwasi Addai Odike, filled the streets of Accra in a Mega Walk to mark the conclusion of Alan Kyerematen’s Greater Accra caravan campaign.
The Walk, which began at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and moved through major routes, was closely guided by police to ensure a secure path to the rally’s endpoint, where Kyerematen, an independent presidential candidate, is expected to deliver a key address to his supporters.
With only five weeks remaining until the December 7 election, candidates across Ghana are intensifying their efforts to engage the electorate and build momentum. The November 2 march in Accra aims to rally support for the ‘Yellow Butterfly Movement,’ a coalition forming around Kyerematen’s bid.
Odike shared that various political parties and independent groups, including members of the PNC, defected members of the CPP, the Green Party, the Union Government, and prominent figures like Dr. Abu Sakara, have allied under a common banner. These groups aim to challenge the longstanding political dominance of the NDC and NPP by presenting a united “third force” that speaks to Ghanaians’ demand for change.
With the coalition’s backing, Alan Kyerematen’s candidacy represents a coordinated push to break the two-party hold on Ghana’s political landscape and bring new perspectives to the nation’s leadership.
