U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has apprehended Joseph Osei Boateng, a Ghanaian national convicted of sex crimes involving a minor, in Columbus, Ohio.
ICE announced that Boateng was arrested on January 29, 2025, by the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) team in Columbus.
“Sex crimes against minors pose a significant threat to our communities,” said Robert Lynch, Director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Detroit. “Our team remains committed to identifying and apprehending individuals who pose a danger to our most vulnerable citizens.”
Boateng entered the U.S. legally in 2019, but in October 2024, he was convicted of two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor by the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
Currently, Boateng remains in ICE custody as he awaits the resolution of his immigration proceedings.
ICE encourages the public to report any immigration violations or suspicious activities by calling the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or submitting an online tip form.
