The Founder of Alive Chapel International, Bishop Elijah Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha, and their sales assistant Linda Bonsu Bempah were re-arrested shortly after being discharged by an Accra Circuit Court.
Their initial charges were withdrawn by the Attorney-General, but police officers swiftly re-arrested them to face fresh charges related to a fatal accident involving their 16-year-old son, Elrad Amoako.
The trio was first taken into custody on October 15, 2024, following preliminary investigations that suggested they had allowed their underage son to drive without a valid license.
On October 12, 2024, in East Legon, the teenager was behind the wheel of a white Jaguar F-Pace Sports when he crashed into an Acura utility vehicle. The impact caused the Acura to catch fire, leading to the tragic deaths of two young girls.
Legal experts have described the re-arrest as a common procedural step in criminal cases, allowing the prosecution to refine charges if the initial ones are deemed insufficient. This legal approach enables authorities to withdraw old charges, refile new ones, and restart the legal process.
As investigations continue into how the minor was able to drive the vehicle unlawfully, Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife, and their assistant are expected to appear before the court once again.
