Former President John Dramani Mahama has awarded grants to selected beneficiaries under the Adwumawura Programme in the Bono Region, in a move aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs and stimulating local economic growth.
The presentation ceremony brought together key government officials, stakeholders, and aspiring business owners, all united by a shared vision of promoting entrepreneurship and job creation. Among dignitaries present were the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei.
The Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative focused on youth empowerment, provides financial support, training, and mentorship to individuals with viable business ideas. The programme is designed to equip beneficiaries with the necessary tools to build sustainable enterprises and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mahama underscored the importance of investing in young people as drivers of innovation and economic transformation. He noted that supporting small and medium-sized enterprises remains critical in tackling unemployment and fostering inclusive growth.
“This intervention is about unlocking potential and giving our young people the opportunity to thrive. When we invest in entrepreneurship, we invest in the future of our country,” he stated.
Minister George Opare Addo reiterated government’s commitment to youth-focused policies, emphasizing the need to create an enabling environment for startups and small businesses to flourish.
On his part, NEIP CEO Eric Adjei highlighted the role of the programme in nurturing innovation and supporting scalable business ventures across the country. He assured beneficiaries of continued technical support and monitoring to ensure the effective utilization of funds.
