Blaming NPP alone for economic challenges is unfair – Akosua Manu

Akosua Manu Defends NPP, Blaming NPP alone for economic challenges is unfair

Akosua Manu, a former Deputy Director of Communications at the Office of the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has strongly defended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against claims that Ghana’s economic struggles are solely due to government mismanagement.

Speaking in an interview on Metro TV, Manu argued that global economic factors played a significant role in Ghana’s financial difficulties. According to her, external shocks, rather than poor governance, were a major contributor to the nation’s economic downturn.

“It is misleading to place all the blame on the government while ignoring the global challenges that have affected economies worldwide,” she stated.

She further highlighted the Akufo-Addo administration’s efforts to mitigate the impact of these economic hardships on Ghanaians. Manu pointed to key interventions in sectors such as business, job creation, education, and healthcare, emphasizing that the government actively implemented measures to stabilize the economy.

“Despite the challenges, the government took bold steps to protect businesses, create employment opportunities, and support critical sectors. We did not sit back and watch the economy collapse,” she asserted.

As a former Parliamentary candidate for Adenta, Manu maintained that the NPP remained committed to ensuring economic resilience and long-term recovery. She urged critics to acknowledge the broader global context instead of attributing all economic struggles to the government’s policies.
