John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Regional Minister-Designate for the Oti Region, has committed to working closely with industry stakeholders to set up processing factories aimed at advancing agricultural development and economic growth in the region.

Acknowledging the region’s robust production of crops such as cassava, ginger, and yam, Mr. Gyapong expressed concern over the lack of large-scale facilities to process these raw materials and enhance their economic value.

“Oti Region has a vast and fertile land area. We grow crops like cocoa, ginger, cassava, and yam, but sadly, there are no industries here to process them,” he noted. “If I am given the mandate, I will prioritize collaborating with stakeholders to establish processing factories for these key crops.”

He emphasized that the proposed initiative would not only strengthen the region’s economy but also address unemployment challenges by creating jobs for the youth.

“I firmly believe that this effort will significantly boost the region’s economy while providing employment opportunities for young people,” Mr. Gyapong said.

The Minister-Designate’s vision aligns with efforts to harness the agricultural potential of the Oti Region for sustainable development.
