Actress Kala Kumasi, a prominent member of the Kumawood community, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to reward her and other Kumawood actors who actively campaigned for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the recent elections.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Kala Kumasi emphasized that their tireless efforts, including the creation of a campaign advertisement showcasing the NDC’s manifesto promises, significantly contributed to the party’s victory in December’s elections.
“We dedicated ourselves to ensuring the NDC’s message reached every corner of the nation,” she said. “From producing campaign ads to hitting the ground and engaging with voters, we gave everything to secure this win. We now appeal to the President to recognize our contributions with appointments in his administration.”
The Kumawood actress highlighted that acknowledging the group’s efforts through government positions would demonstrate the party’s commitment to rewarding loyalty and grassroots support.
Kala Kumasi’s appeal comes as President Mahama begins making ministerial and governmental appointments for his new term.
Her statement has sparked discussions on social media, with opinions divided. While some supporters agree that campaigners deserve recognition, others argue that government roles should prioritize qualifications, experience, and expertise over loyalty.
The NDC has yet to officially respond to the appeal, but Kala Kumasi remains hopeful that their contributions will be acknowledged in a meaningful way.
