The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwame Baah Mensah, was forcibly removed from his office on Thursday morning by unidentified individuals.
Reports from Luv FM indicate that the incident occurred at the NSA office located at Baba Yara Stadium, where a group of individuals, allegedly affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stormed the premises. They locked all offices, sparing only that of the NSA Administrator, and demanded that Kwame Baah vacate his position. The group also insisted he hand over the keys to his office and official vehicle.
Officers from the Asokwa Police, led by ASP Kofi Aboagye, arrived at the scene to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safe exit of the embattled Regional Director.
The incident took an unexpected turn as many NSA staff in the Ashanti Region openly supported the actions of the intruders. Staff members were seen cheering, hooting, and celebrating as they escorted Kwame Baah Mensah out of the premises.
The jubilant employees accused the Director of several wrongdoings, including:
- Unjust promotions and favoritism,
- Victimizing staff members,
- Poor workplace relationships,
- Alleged corrupt practices, and
- Non-payment of casual workers’ allowances for the past four months.
The incident has brought attention to internal tensions within the Ashanti Regional NSA and highlighted grievances raised by staff against their leader. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter to address the underlying issues and restore calm to the office.

The tense standoff at the National Sports Authority (NSA) office in the Ashanti Region ended after lengthy discussions between the police and the unidentified individuals who had stormed the premises. The group, whose numbers had grown significantly, eventually vacated the premises.
Police officers then assisted the embattled Regional Director, Kwame Baah Mensah, in packing his belongings from his office into a waiting vehicle. However, the hostility from NSA staff persisted throughout the process.
In one instance, staff members vehemently objected to Mr. Baah Mensah taking packs of bottled water, claiming the water was purchased with NSA funds and therefore should remain on the premises.
The situation culminated in a chaotic and humiliating scene as the outgoing Regional Director was jeered at by the staff. Amid boos and insults, he was escorted to a private vehicle, which sped off under the gleeful watch of jubilant workers.
The dramatic exit underscores deep-seated tensions within the NSA’s Ashanti Regional office and the lingering grievances of its staff.
