The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ashanti West Region, has launched a tree-planting initiative aimed at restoring vegetation and promoting environmental sustainability in Kumasi.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the company to contribute to environmental protection while encouraging greener communities within the region. The exercise is expected to help improve urban greenery, support climate action and create a healthier environment for residents.
Officials of ECG Ashanti West said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and its role in supporting national efforts to protect the environment.
The tree-planting exercise brought together staff of ECG, stakeholders and community members, who participated in planting trees at selected locations across Kumasi.
According to the company, trees play an important role in reducing environmental degradation, improving air quality and helping communities adapt to the effects of climate change.
The initiative also forms part of broader national campaigns encouraging institutions, businesses and individuals to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts.
ECG has called on residents to support the sustainability of the project by protecting newly planted trees and adopting environmentally friendly practices.
As Kumasi continues to experience rapid urban development, stakeholders believe initiatives such as this will help restore lost vegetation and contribute to building a cleaner and more sustainable city for future generations.
