The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has addressed allegations that victims of the recent Kantamanto fire were being charged for attestation letters.

In a statement issued by Divisional Officer Two (DO II) Desmond E. Ackah, Head of Public Relations, the GNFS made it clear that no fees are required for obtaining such letters.

The Service strongly condemned the reported unauthorized actions, allegedly occurring at the Accra City Fire Station, and assured the public that an investigation is underway to identify and hold accountable any officers involved.

“We urge the public and victims of the Kantamanto fire not to make any payments for attestation letters,” the statement read.

To ensure transparency, the GNFS encouraged anyone encountering such demands to report them immediately to the GNFS Greater Accra Headquarters at Korle-Bu or contact the Public Relations Department via 050 960 8744.

Reiterating its dedication to professionalism and ethical standards, the GNFS expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation in safeguarding the integrity of the institution.
