
Nominations for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional executive elections have officially closed, with 35 aspirants picking and submitting nomination forms to contest various leadership positions ahead of the party’s regional polls.
According to Kwaku Atta Sarpong, a member of the Ashanti Regional NPP Elections Committee, nominations opened on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and closed on Friday, July 17, 2026.
Out of the 35 aspirants, 28 are men while seven are women, all seeking various executive positions within the party’s regional leadership.
A breakdown of the nominations shows that two aspirants are contesting for the position of Regional Chairman, four are vying for 1st Vice Chairman, and three are seeking election as 2nd Vice Chairman.
For the secretary positions, three aspirants picked nomination forms for Regional Secretary, while four are contesting for Deputy Regional Secretary. Another three candidates are seeking election as Regional Treasurer.
In the organiser categories, three aspirants are contesting for Regional Organizer, four are in the race for Youth Organizer, and another four are vying for the Nasara Organizer position.
The contest for Women’s Organizer has attracted three female aspirants, while two candidates have filed nominations for the position of Communications Officer.
Mr. Atta Sarpong disclosed that the vetting of all aspirants is expected to take place on Monday or Tuesday, subject to approval by the Elections Committee.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to hold its Ashanti Regional Executive Elections on August 16, 2026, where delegates will elect new regional officers to lead the party in the Ashanti Region.
