NPP Fixes September 19 for National Delegates Conference to Elect New National Officers

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced Saturday, September 19, 2026, as the date for its National Delegates Conference, where delegates will elect new national officers to lead the party.

The decision was approved by the party’s National Council following a recommendation by the National Executive Committee (NEC) during meetings held on June 25, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 8, the party said the conference will be conducted in accordance with Article 10(1) of the NPP Constitution, which mandates delegates to elect national officers.

“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, as the date for its National Delegates Conference, at which delegates will, among other matters, elect National Officers of the Party pursuant to Article 10(1) of the Party Constitution,” the statement said.

Constitutional Amendment Proposals Invited

Ahead of the conference, the NPP has opened a window for party members and stakeholders to submit proposals for amendments to its constitution.

According to the party, all amendment proposals must be submitted to the Office of the General Secretary at the party’s national headquarters or sent electronically to nppconstitutionalamendment@gmail.com no later than Friday, July 17, 2026.

The party explained that the exercise is being undertaken in line with Article 19(2) of its Constitution.

Strengthening Internal Democracy

The NPP encouraged members and stakeholders to actively participate in the constitutional review process, describing it as an important opportunity to strengthen the party’s structures, enhance internal democratic practices, and improve governance.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to constitutionalism, the rule of law, and internal democracy as preparations continue for the September National Delegates Conference.
