The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a fugitive after he failed to comply with directives to return to Ghana for questioning in multiple corruption investigations.

Ofori-Atta is under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in several high-profile cases, including controversial contracts between Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority, suspected corruption linked to the National Cathedral project, and the procurement of ambulances for the National Ambulance Service.

While his legal team had proposed remote cooperation, the OSP insisted on his physical presence. After missing the deadline to return, authorities escalated the case, formally designating him a wanted fugitive.

Additionally, the OSP dismissed reports of a raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence on February 11, 2025, denying any involvement and suggesting it may have been an orchestrated attempt to discredit the investigation.

Beyond this case, the OSP is also actively investigating corruption allegations concerning the Minerals Income Investment Fund and the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund.
