President John Dramani Mahama departed Accra on Wednesday afternoon to attend the Munich Security Conference in Germany, followed by the African Union (AU) Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. His trip, spanning from February 12 to 17, will see him engage in high-level discussions on global and African security challenges.

Speaking to the media at the Jubilee Lounge of Kotoka International Airport before the President’s departure, Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, highlighted Mahama’s role in shaping security dialogue as Chairman of the Tana Forum. He noted that the President’s participation in these summits underscores the importance of Africa’s voice in global security matters, especially given today’s increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.

During his time in Munich, President Mahama will take part in the conference’s opening forum and hold bilateral meetings with key world leaders and international organizations. These discussions will center on strengthening Ghana’s global partnerships and advancing cooperation on security and development.

The President is also set to deliver an address at a side event hosted by the Tana Forum, where he will share his insights on emerging security challenges facing Africa and the broader international community.
