The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has called on candidates whose 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results have been withheld due to suspected malpractice to cooperate with the ongoing investigations.
In a statement signed by Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, WAEC clarified that the Ghana Examinations Committee, during its 37th meeting, approved the decision to withhold the affected results. However, the investigation process is now in its final stages.
According to WAEC, the review of the flagged scripts has been completed, and affected candidates have been invited to meet with designated WAEC officials.
“These meetings, which require candidates to attend with their parents or guardians, are intended to ensure a fair hearing before final decisions are made,” the statement explained.
During these sessions, candidates will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations and submit written statements in the presence of their guardians. WAEC reassured all stakeholders that the process is being conducted transparently and fairly, dismissing claims that candidates are being coerced or intimidated into making statements.
The examination body has urged all affected candidates and their guardians to fully cooperate to facilitate a swift and just resolution of the matter.
