President John Mahama has made a significant reshuffle in the leadership of key state-owned entities, reassigning Edward Bawa, who was recently appointed as the CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), to the position of Group CEO of GOIL (Ghana Oil Company Limited).
Bawa, a former Member of Parliament for Bongo, had been named to head GNPC on January 16, 2025, succeeding Joseph Dadzie. However, in a surprise move, he has now been directed to lead GOIL, with the transition taking effect immediately.
Confirming the move in a Facebook post, Bawa noted that his reassignment aligns with President Mahama’s broader strategic goals for the energy sector. The announcement has already generated considerable interest.
As of now, the position of CEO at GNPC remains vacant, with no official announcement regarding Bawa’s successor.
