Honoured as Education Icon of the Year: A Grateful Reflection.

Last night, at the prestigious Triumph Women’s Awards held at the La Palm Royal Resort in Accra, I was deeply humbled and honoured to be named Education Icon of the Year. This recognition is not simply about me; it is about a vision of education that transforms lives, builds nations and creates futures.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family, friends, various groups and everyone who voted and supported me on this journey. To the organizers of the Triumph Women’s Awards, thank you for creating a platform that uplifts women whose work is shaping society in meaningful ways. To my beloved Nobel Heights School community—teachers, staff, students, and parents: you are the heartbeat of my mission and the reason this recognition is possible. This award belongs to all of us.

I also wish to appreciate school owners and the education community across Ghana, particularly in Amasaman and the Ga West District, whose tireless work often goes unnoticed. You are the unsung heroes carrying the torch of learning into communities, nurturing future leaders in classrooms and keeping the flame of knowledge alive even in the face of challenges. This honour is as much yours as it is mine.

My Philosophy of Education.

For me, education is not simply the transmission of knowledge; it is the awakening of potential, the nurturing of character, and the ignition of purpose. True education must go beyond exams and certificates to equip children to lead, innovate, and transform their communities.

As I often say: “When education forgets its purpose, society forgets its respect. Intentionality of purpose is the engine for holistic education, and it is this kind of education that creates lasting impact.”

Purposeful education, then, is not passive. It is intentional. It must identify problems, create solutions and build a better world for us all. Anything less falls short of the sacred calling of education.

This philosophy is the guiding light of Nobel Heights School and also of my wider work as a social educator and through Bridgewell For Development, the NGO I co-founded to support education, leadership and community development. Through these platforms, I remain committed to ensuring that education in Ghana is not only about literacy and numeracy but also about raising bold leaders who can meet the challenges of our time with wisdom and courage.

A Collective Call.

This award is not the end of a journey but a call to deepen the work. It is a challenge to continue innovating, to keep raising young leaders and to stand as a voice for education that liberates, empowers and reforms.

I dedicate this award to every teacher, parent pupil and student who dares to believe that education can change the world. I salute the teachers in small classrooms, the parents who sacrifice for their children’s future and the policymakers and community leaders who fight for equitable education in Ghana and beyond.

Let us never forget: education is not just about what we know but about who we become and how we serve humanity and the world.

Moving Forward.

As I celebrate this moment, my resolve is renewed. Together with the team at Nobel Heights School, the wider education community in Ghana and the vision of Bridgewell For Development, I remain committed to purposeful education; education that brings solutions, builds responsible character and inspires a future where every child can rise.

Last night, as I held that award, I felt not only gratitude but also responsibility. Responsibility to my learners, students, my community and my nation. Responsibility to continue shaping an educational culture where children are not only taught but transformed.

This is the education Ghana deserves. This is the education Africa needs. And this is the education I will keep fighting for.

With gratitude and renewed commitment,
