Nuong Faalong Backs Government’s Anti-Corruption Crackdown: “Accountability Cannot Be Ignored”
Prominent journalist and activist, Nuong Faalong, has strongly defended the government’s ongoing investigations and prosecutions into alleged corruption cases under the previous administration, emphasizing that justice and accountability must take precedence over political convenience.

Speaking on the matter, Faalong described the scale of corruption in the past government as “obscene”, insisting that evidence continues to emerge, warranting further legal scrutiny.
“The level of corruption under the previous administration was appalling, and new revelations continue to surface. This is not something that can be swept under the rug,” she asserted.
Rejecting calls for the government to abandon past financial misconduct cases, she argued that accountability is non-negotiable.
“You don’t just tell the government to forget about economic crimes and move on. If a nation is bleeding financially, you don’t just stop the bleeding—you also investigate what caused the wounds,” she stated firmly.

“The Honorable Ato Forson’s trial received extensive media coverage. We knew the allegations, we got updates, and we saw the legal process unfold. Why should it be any different now?” she questioned.

She praised the Attorney General’s office for handling these cases professionally and impartially, dismissing claims of a political witch-hunt.
“Thankfully, we have an Attorney General who is highly competent, learned, and professional. There is no conspiracy to create trouble for anyone—just facts being followed through the legal system,” she noted.

Faalong challenged those accused of corruption to embrace legal scrutiny, stating that if they are truly innocent, the courts will clear them.
“If you insist that you have done nothing wrong, then there is nothing to fear. The court will determine the truth, but the facts will be presented,” she concluded.
