La Liga preview. MATCH DAY 21

The La Liga title race is reaching fever pitch as Matchday 21 unfolds from Friday, January 24, to Monday, January 27, 2025. Football fans are in for an action-packed weekend of top-tier Spanish football, and there’s no better way to catch every moment than on DStv!

The action kicks off on Friday night with Las Palmas hosting Osasuna in what promises to be a fiery opener. Saturday’s schedule includes a blockbuster clash between Atletico Madrid and Villarreal at the Metropolitano Stadium. Their previous meeting ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, but Diego Simeone’s men will be aiming to secure all three points this time.

“We are constantly improving and growing as a unit. Every player, including substitutes, plays a vital role. The team believes in the process,” said Simeone, exuding confidence ahead of the game.

Later on Saturday, reigning champions Real Madrid will travel to the Jose Zorrilla Municipal Stadium to take on Real Valladolid. Despite Valladolid’s dismal recent record against Los Blancos—six straight losses without scoring—midfielder Kike Perez believes his team can rise to the occasion.

“Our fans will back us at home, and if we play to our strengths, anything is possible,” said Perez.

On Sunday night, Barcelona will take center stage against Valencia at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium. While Barca eyes the championship, Valencia is battling to avoid relegation. Valencia coach Carlos Corberan emphasized the need for unity and determination.

“Our fans appreciate commitment and dedication. It’s not about asking them for support but about giving everything on the pitch,” Corberan stated.

Other key fixtures include Sevilla hosting Espanyol in Andalusia on Saturday, while Alaves and Celta Vigo will wrap up the round with a Monday night clash at the Mendizorroza Stadium.
